We are excited to present the Krenit jug: a distinctive member of the Krenit Family! More than 50 years ago, Herbert Krenchel designed the iconic Krenit series. The well-known Krenit bowls were later put back into production by Normann Copenhagen and we are thrilled to, once again, be able to celebrate the great Danish design of Krenit by expanding the series with the original Krenit jug.
The name Krenit is a combination of the name Krenchel and eternit, which is the Danish word for enamel
Designed in 1966
The Krenit jug was originally designed in 1966 as an extension of the Krenit range of bowls and kitchen utensils. Back then, Herbert Krenchel noticed a growing need for more streamlined looking products for serving and preparing food.
Herbert Krenchel explained in 2008:
“I’ve always been engrossed, almost in love with objects and materials of a high quality. As a counterpoint to the soft and curved forms of the time, I gave the Krenit jug a razor sharp feel, which is expressed by its refined lines. The stout handle, for example, is quite different to that you would usually see on a jug. The angle at the top of the handle is shorter than that of the lowest. This adds personality and gives the jug a good grip.”
Today, we still see a desire for a sharp and minimalistic feel and the popularity of the Krenit bowl proves that the streamlined look fits just as well into today’s modern home as it did back then.
Match the Krenit jug with the iconic bowls. The Krenit jug comes in the same wide range of inviting colors
A characteristic design
The Krenit jug has the same characteristic design we know from the Krenit bowl, with a balanced relationship between form and material. The jug has no adornments, but distinguishes itself with its simplicity, sharp lines and dynamic contrast between the matt black exterior and the shiny colorful inside.
The Krenit jug will be launched in two sizes: 70 cl and 1 litre
The jug will be in stores from the beginning of March and we cannot wait to expand the Krenit family with another piece of Danish design history!
