Open your kitchen drawer and take a close look. Chances are that you have several salad sets lying around. But this was not always the case. Back in 1953 when Herbert Krenchel designed his iconic Krenit bowl, salad was not a common thing on a danish dinner table. We Danes were just learning how to eat salad – like they did in America.
Two years after the Krenit bowl was introduced, Herbert designed the melamin Krenit salad set. Inspired by chopsticks and the Asian minimalist design, he created a salad set without any kind of decoration – very Herbert Krenchel – and very (what became known as) Danish design.
